
Constitution
The Australian Lipid Society is an incorporated, not-for-profit association governed by a constitution adopted under the Associations Incorporation Act 2015 (Western Australia). The constitution sets out the Society’s objects, membership rules, governance structure, election procedures, financial arrangements, and dispute resolution processes.

- Objects: advancement of lipid biology and biochemistry in Australia, with the Australian Lipid Meeting as the Society’s flagship activity.
- Membership: open to anyone aged 16 or over who is based in or connected to Australia and supports the Society’s objects. There are no joining or annual fees.
- Governance: a management committee of four office holders (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer) and up to two auxiliary members, elected at the Annual General Meeting.
- Term cycle: committee terms align with the Australian Lipid Meeting cycle, with elections every two years.
- Not-for-profit: all income is applied solely toward the Society’s objects; no property or income may be distributed to members.

Amendments
The constitution may only be altered by special resolution at a general meeting, requiring at least 21 days’ written notice to members and approval by at least 75% of members present and voting. Approved changes are lodged with the Western Australian Commissioner within 28 days, as required by the Act.
